Welcome to the American Republic!
This Is The Mission:
If you are viewing this site then it is very likely you agree that this is a defining moment in America's history.  Even if you have little knowledge of how and why this country came into being, or even of 20th century events, you must recognize that there is an atmosphere of unrest and a sense of uncertainty in our country today.  Though we are still experiencing the treasures and benefits of prosperity, many of us wonder how this can be sustained in view of the many economic and social challenges facing our nation that are very real and very frightening.

Some of us have determined that much of the anxiety we feel is directly related to the approach many of our elected and non-elected leaders are taking in an attempt to solve problems both real and contrived.  Whether true or not, many believe that these leaders no longer have the best interests of the general population in mind but rather have determined to  acquire greater and prolonged power to influence the lives of others with the cost being the loss of freedom and liberty by the American people.

Evidence of this can easily be seen by examining the current make up of the houses of Congress.  At least two senators are in their ninth term, Senators Kennedy and Byrd.  Congressmen Conyers and Dingle are in their twenty third and twenty eighth respectively.  These men may be fine individuals and fine leaders, however, fifty years or more in a temporary office is suspect.

The founders of this great nation had two fears, one that we would drift into anarchy and the other that we would succumb to the draw of a tyranny.  The Constitution they drafted dealt with these possibilities by defining a government composed of balancing political forces.  We recognize this as the three branches of government.  They felt that if the three branches were composed of virtuous and moral men that operated within confines of their Constitutional boundaries, one branch would not usurp the others and tyranny could be avoided.  Today we see overwhelming evidence of failure in both of these areas and the results are exactly what the founders predicted.

Our organization has come to the conclusion that these two factors of length of time in office of irresponsible and inept leadership and Congress operating outside the bounds of the Constitution, is directly related to many of the societal ills we are experiencing.  These ills can be summed up in this way.  The basic rights of life, liberty, pursuit of happiness, and the right to own and control personal property are threatened more than ever before.

We have decided to join with those that have concluded that Congress has attained power beyond what the Constitution proscribes and that the other two branches can do little to address it.  In fact, both the executive and judicial branches seem to be following Congress' lead by overstepping their proscribed boundaries as well.  The end result is each branch is operating as an independent and unchecked governing body.

To counter this, the idea of term limits for Congress has been proposed and we agree that this is now the time to implement that idea.  We are supporting this effort by organizing a nationwide petition drive state by state to demand that each state's legislature call for a convention to amend the Constitution so that term limits for Congress will become law.  Please review the resources within this site and the educational links included.  Consider taking part in the effort by learning how this process works and then actively work to get petitions signed.
